Hou Mei Steamboat @ Ipoh
This is ala carte steamboat.
Located in Medan Baru Ipoh, opposite Festival Walk. It has both indoor and outdoor seating.
Using big bone broth as soup base, it is something different in Ipoh town. The broth itself doesn't come complimentary. It cost RM10.90, generously endowed with vegetables like cabbage, fried bean curd skins and fried taro. The flesh on the bone is still tough.... Hmmm.
Sauces are very limited in choice. Both chilli sauce isn't different. On the right was fried garlic. I miss fried dried chilli flakes.
Here's what we took.
Crystal fish balls and fish paste slices....Suspecting certain additives are used. but the texture is nice. The plate with a prawn on it, is the set meal for 1. Comes with noodles. (pic below) |
The plate with the egg, is pork paste. Mix with the egg and scoop it bit by bit into the broth. The handmade beef balls... handmade?? I doubt so. |
It's farmed siakap.... Won't order this again. |
The final bill... Comes to almost the same as buffet steamboat except we ate much less sliced meat and fresh seafood.
Although the broth base taste pretty good but we still miss the "all you can eat" steamboats in klang valley. We love generosity although we might not make full use of what is offered.
Hubby doesn't like being mentally restricted, lol.
We couldn't finish everything and asked the workers to pack them for us to bring home.
Here is their menu

It's quiet fun to have steamboat with many choices of meat, seafood and vege. There are two steamboat outlets near my office but my complaint is feeling very thirsty after eating there. MSG overload :(
