Fancy Yong Tofu With Noodles @ Ipoh

We bumped into this place when we sent our girls for a replacement class at another branch for the art lessons she missed few weeks back. Then I saw this shop when my husband parked his car. My heart and jumping with glee.

Haha, why so? Because I have only seen it on TV and heard about the fancy stuffed tofu but have no idea where the place is. And now it's right infront of me.

I insisted on having lunch there.

Texas Chicken @ Sunway Pyramid

Lately I've seen quite a few Facebook statuses by friends regarding Texas Chicken. They all had rave reviews about it. So when I saw it today.... I so must try it

We ordered the three piece combo, Mexican burger combo and extra 3 pcs of honey butter biscuits.

The best way for me to describe the taste is by comparing with the most popular fried chicken in the country that is KFC.

Plan b. ... Again.

This time... I'm not too happy about the service. So I guess I was  lucky the previous time  as I do hear people saying the service here  aren't too good.

When I walked in no one attended to us although the sign at the door asked us to wait for attendance. Then I asked a waiter who happened to be standing around, saying I needed a table for 2 adults and 3 kids in English, he told he he can't understand and so I spoke in his own language. He look baffled and told me , "See so many tables inside, go sit la"

Ok ok.... We shall sit by ourselves.

Indulgence @ Ipoh

Indulgence is one of the few places for better western cuisine in Ipoh. Located in a beautiful colonial bungalow not far from the city center.

Some say it's fine dining here. But to me, it's not.
Fine dining to me has proper table settings with a lots of cutlery and the layout is formal and fixed but here, the setting is casual. They let you use the same knife no matter which mains you ordered and there's no lines of spoons and fork for you to figure out.

the view from one side of my table

I can't deny that many years ago, before I first came here, I had high expectations of the ambience as I heard it was a fine dining restaurant. But when I stepped in and looked around... It felt like the restaurant in the hotel where you have your buffet breakfast, and to be specific, a resort, not a city hotel. It's colourful, with a laid back approach.

Ipoh folks are laid back, love good food but would prefer not to be bound by formalities. I've seen men in shorts and sandals each time I go there. It doesn't matter. A fine dining restaurant will require a proper dress code. Indulgence is just a place for finer imported food (by local standards ) and one seriously do not need to feel intimidated by it.

Hi Tea @ Cameron Highlands Resort

We spent Malaysia day by going on a half day trip to Cameron Highlands. Left KK by 11.30am, and reached Kg Raja at around 1.30pm. Went buying some produce like white sweet corn and strawberries.

We then went to Cameron Highland Resort for tea, because we wanted to avoid the crowd at the tea plantations due to the public holiday.

Bake With Yen @ Ipoh

Bakery supplies chain store Bake With Yen has finally arrived in Ipoh. It's a breath of relief for bakers in Ipoh and surrounding areas. No longer do we have to tolerate the lousy customer service at the one in town not neither do we have to fork out more at other shops in Ipoh Garden.

Located in a rather quiet area with ample parking, it's not hard to find. If you know where YMCA is, it's just at the few row of shops nearby, on the other side of Kinta river.

Strawberry Raspberry Infusion and Green Tea with Lemon

Bought these few weeks back.

After I had these somehow I find it hard to visit Coffee Bean again to have a cup of Swedish Berries tea. Can't bring myself to pay for it. It's only 50 sen per cup if I brew it at home.

Plan b. @ Ipoh

We went to Plan b. for lunch few days back.

Situated in the old town, next to the famous coffee shop, Kong Heng.

I didn't know it was there at first, but bumped into it as we drove around there cos hubby was going to see one of his vendors.
That morning itself, I was 'instructed' by some fellow FB friends to go there and eat some cake.
Surprisingly.. I saw this unexpectedly and became very obedient and went in to have cake

We had to seek for an entrance. Lol. It wasn't seen from the front, the same side as Kong Heng, I mean. Finally found it at the side when we followed another person that we suspected was going in.. The building structure was once an old furniture showroom, among ruins that dates back further than WW1. But has been redone. It still reeks of that typical smell of old ruins. So, sitting outdoors on the side that faces the ruins is not recommended. But there's no smell inside the restaurant.
